The Saxon AZ5 alt-azimuth portable mount features and full metal eyepiece accessory tray that doubles as a reinforcement for the tube steel tripod legs. This makes for an even more sturdy and rigid assembly lessening vibrations throughout the entire system.
Holding up to nine eyepieces, the accessory tray allows for 3 x two inch eyepieces and 6 x 1.25 inch eyepieces.
Other items like cameras with 1.25 inch or 2 inch nosepieces attached could also be seated int he accessory tray.
Conveniently buit-in to the alt-axis arm are three magnets and groove to hold an included Allen key and spare if need be. This hex wrench can be used with all bolts in the mount where assembly or adjustments are required.
Another great idea incorporated into the mounts overall features is the recessed thumbscrew bores in the worm gear shaft of each axis. This avoids slippage or the slo motion flexi cable coming off and even being lost in the dark.
The extra long axis tension levers are easy to find when you're working in the dark. A real surprise is the hand lift and turn capability of each lever so that they do not obstruct or come into contact with free motion of the mount or telescope.
As shown above one simply pull the axis lever upward and turns to a desired position out of the way. Spring loaded, it pops back down into position.
